Our 2009 Ciders & perry
Rockingham Forest Cider is one of our core brands of cider. Though the blend of apples used will vary from season to season, it will always include a high percentage of 'Vintage Quality' bittersweet cider apples. This gives the tannin-rich flavour which is a characteristic of West Country and Three Counties ciders. The 2009 blend is made from apples harvested from a very old unsprayed Worcestershire cider orchard.
Sugrave Orchard is a medium cider made from nine different varieties of dessert apple sourced from a commercial orchard near the village of Sulgrave. This is therefore a true taste of Northamptonshire.
Welland Valley Special is a fruity, medium cider, made from a range of dessert and culinary apples which have been sourced exclusively from old unsprayed orchards within the Welland Valley area. Only a limited quantity of this cider has been made, and we plan to make it available as a special at the Welland Valley Beer Festival in June.
Rockingham Forest Perry is made from Worcestershire grown Blakeney Red Perry Pears. Perry is a rare and delicious drink, lighter in style than cider, with a subtle fruitiness. This is our first attempt at perry making, and there is a very limited quantity available this year.
